At 15:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 17ft Ski Boat Four Winn with seven people onboard, which was on a lee shore and was suffering engine problems to the North of St Mawes Castle.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 15:51 and headed across the Carrick Roads towards St Mawes Castle. The Ski Boat could be seen heading clear of the shore and at 15:54 the Inshore Lifeboat crew were able to confirm that the boat was under its own power and out of immediate danger. Although the owner had managed to restart his engine it was still on reduced power so the Inshore Lifeboat escorted the boat back to the Mylor Harbour Slipway where it was safely recovered at 16:16.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 16:25 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 16:40.

The Ski Boat had an inboard engine and was suffering a leak from its seawater coolant system causing the engine compartment to flood.
