Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Claire Angove, Neil Capper Location: 1 mile SE of Pennance Point, Falmouth Bay Shout Date: 29/08/2011 - 14:16 Weather:N 4, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny ![]() At 14:10 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a VHF call from an 18ft Ski Boat with five people onboard reporting that it was broken down in Falmouth Bay and was unable to restart its engine. The Coastguard put out a broadcast requesting assistance from any vessels that were in the area to provide a tow with out success, but the motor boat Daisy May did respond offering to standby the boat until the arrival of the inshore lifeboat. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 14:16 and headed out into Falmouth Bay. With the assistance of the Daisy May the Ski Boat was located 1 mile Southeast of Pennance Point at 14:24. A tow line was secured to the ski boat and it was towed back to Mylor where the boat was safely placed in its marina berth at 14:55, the inshore lifeboat being released to return to its station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 15:08 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 15:25. The ski boat had suffered complete electrical failure and despite carrying a spare battery its owner had been unable to get it started, leaving them no other option than to ask for assistance from the coastguard.
