At 16:30 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched to assist in the search for a missing person in the St Keverne area, following a request for assistance from the police. The 76 year old man had been missing since 11am on Monday 5 March and despite initial searches by officers in and around St Keverne no sign of the person had been found. In addition to both lifeboats, a Search and Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, Police Helicopter and Coastguard Cliff Teams from Porthoustock, Mullion and The Lizard were also tasked to assist in the search.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 16:42, arriving on scene at Porthoustock at 16:55. Along with the Inshore Lifeboat a search of the coastline was commenced between Lowland Point and Porthallow, which was later extended to cover the coastline between Coverack and Nare Point. No sign of the missing person was found and due to failing light the search was terminated at 18:15.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 18:32. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 18:45.

The Police and Coastguards carried out further searches over the following days but with negative results, and our thoughts go out to the missing persons family.
