At 16:56 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist in a search for an elderly lady who had been reported missing in the Mylor area. The search was being co-ordinated by the Police and also included the Falmouth Coastguard cliff team, a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and the Cornwall Search Group.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:02 and headed up the Carrick Roads to Mylor Harbour, and then up the Mylor Creek where the search commenced at 17:10. The inshore lifeboat concentrated its search on the coastline from just downstream of Mylor Bridge around Greatwood to the Pandora Inn at Restronguet Passage. A second sweep of this coastline was then done using the lifeboats thermal imaging camera and night vision scope, before the lifeboat was retasked to search the Mylor Harbour and coastline around to Flushing. At 18:45 while still carrying out the search of Mylor harbour, it was confirmed that the lady had been located inland at Carnon Downs so all units were stood down and the inshore lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 18:58 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 19:15.

Although weather conditions were fairly good, it was bitterly cold and there was grave concern for the well being of this lady who had last been seen at 10:00 that morning.
