Falmouth Severn Class All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 19:21 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to carryout a search of Veryan Bay following a report of a red flare, sighted from above Gorran Haven looking west over Hemmick Beach. Portscatho Coastguard Mobile was also tasked to assist.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 19:30 and heading up to the east around Zone Point arriving at Gull Rock at 19:46. A search was commenced from Gull Rock around the coast to Dodman Point and then back across Veryan Bay and into St Germans Bay. At 21:45 having completed the search with nothing being found the Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 22:08. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 22:23.

An extensive search of the area was carried out using Thermal Imaging Cameras, Night Sight Equipment and searchlights, but nothing was located. Portscatho Mobile had positioned itself on the high ground above Nare Head.
