Falmouth Atlantic 75 Class Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B-756)

At 21:12 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the police in a search for a missing person. The search was initially centred on Pendennis Point and also involved the Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team and a Police Helicopter.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 21:18 and commenced its search staring at Middle Point at 21:23 heading around Pendennis Point to Castle Beach. Additional information received regarding the accuracy of the search area indicated that the search should be expanded to include, Trefusis, St Mawes Castle area and from Pendennis Point to Maenporth. In view of this at 21:29 Falmouth Coastguard also requested the launch of the Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat to assist in the search as light was fading fast, the lifeboat launching at 21:38.

The Inshore Lifeboat continued its search along the seafront to Gyllyngvase Beach, Swanpool Beach, Maenporth and finally to Rosemullion Head, using, night vision, thermal imaging equipment and search lights. At 23:02 having just reached Rosemullion Head the coastguard advised that the police had located the missing person at the cemetery near Swanpool so all units were released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 23:16 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 23:30.

The Inshore Lifeboat, All Weather Lifeboat and its Y-Boat, and the Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team had completed a comprehensive search of the coastline, but the casualty had eventually been located further inland and had been taken to hospital for treatment.
