Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Tom Napper Location: Between Pendennis Headland and Maenporth Shout Date: 05/07/2008 (All day) Weather:S 8, Rough Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast At 16:25 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched at the request of the police to assist in a search for a missing person. On clearing the harbour and having assessed the prevailing weather conditions at 16:37 the Coxswain of the Lifeboat also requested the launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat to assist in covering the search area which covered three miles of coastline. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked along with various Police units. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 16:41 and headed out of the harbour commencing their search at the Eastern Arm of the Docks at 16:46. Both lifeboats carried out a search of the shoreline out to a distance of = mile offshore, with negative results. At 17:30 the Coastguard Mobile reported sighting someone fitting the description of the missing person on the Seafront and at 17:35 a Police unit was able to confirm that this was the missing person and all units could be stood down. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:48 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 18:05.
