At 16:25 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched at the request of the police to assist in a search for a missing person. The Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team was also tasked along with various Police units.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 16:32 and started to head out of the harbour. On clearing the harbour and having assessed the prevailing weather conditions at 16:37 the Coxswain of the Lifeboat also requested the launch of Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat to assist in covering the search area, which covered three miles of coastline.

Both lifeboats carried out a search of the shoreline out to a distance of = mile offshore, with negative results. At 17:30 the Coastguard Mobile reported sighting someone fitting the description of the missing person on the Seafront and at 17:35 a Police unit was able to confirm that this was the missing person and all units could be stood down.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 17:50. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 17:05.
