Falmouth Atlantic 75 Class Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat had just arrived at the annual Durgan Regatta when at 14:13 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Inshore Lifeboat proceed to the assistance of a 20ft open sailing boat with two persons onboard which was having difficulties in the adverse weather conditions.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 14:22 and took the sailing boat in tow. Due to the weather conditions and the fact that it was an open boat slow progress was made crossing Falmouth Bay but by 17:35 the boat had been safely moored up at North Quay in Falmouth and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:40 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 17:58.

The 20ft gaff rigged open boat had left Mousehole earlier in the day and was on passage to Penryn. When they got off the Manacle Buoy the prevailing weather conditions meant that they were not making any headway and they were unable to start their outboard motor because it had become swamped, so they had wisely requested assistance.
