Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Tom Bird, Oliver Lewis, Tom Napper Location: Off Castle Beach Shout Date: 24/07/2007 (All day) Weather:SW 4, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy At 21:06 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist the 14ft Rigid Inflatable Ember, which had broken down off Castle Beach. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 21:12, arriving off Castle Beach at 21:16. Another speedboat had been standing by the Ember until the arrival of the Inshore Lifeboat. A member of the lifeboat crew waded into the shallow water to attach a towline. Once the boat was pulled clear of the rocks the lifeboatman managed to restart the boats engine so it was decided to escort the boat back to the Dinghy Park in Falmouth where the boat was safely berthed at 21:39. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 21:48 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 22:00. In trying to start the boats outboard the two teenage occupants had flooded the engine and had been unable to restart it. Both lads were wearing lifejackets and had sensibly anchored the vessel until assistance arrived.
