Boat: Inshore Lifeboat
Crew: David Proud (Helmsman), John Blakeston, Mark Pollard
Location: Off Pill Creek, Carrick Roads
Shout Date: 11/11/2000 (All day)
Weather:SW 1-2, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast

At 16:23 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to assist a Windsurfer which had been reported in difficulties in the Carrick Roads, off Pill Creek. The casualty was in the water trying to swim back to shore with his board and sail.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 16:29, and recovered the Windsurfer. He was then returned to Loe Beach, where he was safely landed ashore at 16:35.

The Windsurfer had become becalmed when the wind had dropped, and had been making slow but steady progress to the shore, when a member of the reported his predicament. Although he probably would have managed to get ashore by himself he was very thankful for the assistance given by the Inshore Lifeboat.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 16:46, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 17:03.
