Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat had just left it berth on a district inspectors exercise and was passing the docks when at 18:01 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the lifeboat proceed to Gyllyngvase Beach. The Coastguard had received a 999 call reporting two persons in difficulty in a canoe = mile South of Gyllyngvase Beach. The RNLI Beach Lifeguards kept the casualties under observation until the arrival of the lifeboat. Falmouth Coastguard Mobile was also dispatched to assist.

The All Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:06 and located the two people in a canoe about 200 yards off Gyllyngvase Beach. It was soon confirmed that they were not in difficulties and once they had reached the beach the lifeboat was released to continue with its exercise at 18:16.
