Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Roger McClarity (Coxswain), John Murray, Snowy Angove, David Proud, Alan Rower, Phil Rogers, Mark Pollard, Carl Beardmore Location: Caerhays Beach, Veryan Bay Shout Date: 03/08/2002 (All day) Weather:NW 3, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny At 13:08, as the Offshore Lifeboat was returning from a previous incident Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore proceed to assist an Inflatable Dinghy reported being blown out to sea with a young child onboard off Caerhays Beach, Veryan Bay. Mevagissey Coastguard Mobile and Falmouths Inshore Lifeboat were also tasked to assist. At 13:26 the Offshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at Caerhays and with the assistance of the Mevagissey Coastguard Mobile, located the small inflatable dinghy about 400 yards out from the beach. It was found that the occupant was in fact a holidaymaker in his 60s who was happily fishing, and did not seem aware of the dangers he was in. The Lifeboat launched its Y-Boat inflatable which towed the casualty back into Caerhays Beach, where the occupant was advised of the dangers of not wearing a lifejacket and in taking a small inflatable out in an Offshore Wind. At 13:39 the Offshore Lifeboat reported that the Small Inflatable was back ashore and at 13:45 once the Y-Boat had been recovered, the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 14:13, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 14:28.
