Location: Off Mawnan Sheer, at the entrance to Helford River
Shout Date: 12/11/2000 (All day)
Weather:SW 3-4, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods

At 09:21 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to investigate a small boat drifting out to sea off Mawnan Sheer, at the entrance to the Helford River.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 09:28, and located a 14ft Aluminium Rowing Boat, partly filled with water. It appeared that the boat had drifted down river on the Spring Tides, but the Inshore Lifeboat carried out a search on the area to ensure that no one had been onboard the dinghy and fallen into the water.

The boat was then towed to the beach at the ""Ferryboat Inn"", where it was confirmed by one of the locals that it had come from Polwheveral Creek. The boat was left in their care, as they would arrange for the owner to collect it.

The Inshore Lifeboat was therefore released at 09:51, and proceeded back towards Falmouth to join in with the Offshore Lifeboat, on its regular Sunday Exercise.
