Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: David Proud (Helmsman), Carl Beardmore, Marc Thomas Location: Off Entrance to the Helford River Shout Date: 14/12/2000 (All day) Weather:W 4, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods At 08:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to investigate a small boat drifting out to sea off the entrance to the Helford River. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 08:55, and arrived off the entrance to the Helford River at 09:10. A small eight foot dinghy was located close to Nare Point, and on checking it was appeared that the dinghy had broken loose and drifted down river on the ebb tide. The dinghy was taken in tow, and the Inshore Lifeboat carried out a visual search of the River to ensure that nobody had fallen overboard from the dinghy during its passage down river. At 09:43 the dinghy was safely placed on the beach at the ""Ferryboat Inn"", and the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 10:03, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 10:18.
