Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

At 19:18 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following a call from the Pilot Boat Arrow reporting that the crew had sighted a Red Flare over Loe Beach in the Carrick Roads.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 19:27 and headed up the Carrick Roads commencing its search off St Just at 19:36 and working its way up the channel towards Pill Creek. The Inshore Lifeboat was already on scene off Loe Beach carrying out a search close inshore between Pill Creek and Restronguet Creek. At 19:57 with nothing being found the search was called off and both lifeboats were released to return to station

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 20:13. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 20:25.

Having carried out a thorough search of the area with nothing being found it is believed that the flare may have been fired from inland.
