Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank - B756

At 19:18 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched following a call from the Pilot Boat Arrow reporting that the crew had sighted a Red Flare over Loe Beach in the Carrick Roads.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 19:23 and arrived on scene at Loe Beach at 19:29. Having talked to people on the beach who had seen nothing unusual the Inshore Lifeboat carried out a search of the area close inshore between Pill Creek and Restronguet Creek, while the All Weather Lifeboat searched the top half of the Carrick Roads from the main channel. At 19:57 with nothing being found the search was called off and both lifeboats were released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:10 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 20:30.

Having carried out a thorough search of the area with nothing being found it is believed that the flare may have been fired from inland.
