Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Glen Reed, John Blakeston Location: Falmouth Inner Harbour Shout Date: 20/10/2000 (All day) Weather:S 7-8, Rough Sea, Poor Visibility, Overcast with Heavy Rain At 00:25 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard to search for a person reported overdue while returning to his yacht in Falmouth Inner Harbour, in adverse weather conditions. The owner of the yacht ""June Rose"" had reported that his friend had left about twenty minutes earlier to return to the yacht ""Tessa"", but had not yet called him on the radio, as agreed, to confirm he had arrived safely. The Inshore Lifeboat located the ""June Rose"" and obtained further details of the missing person, including the fact that he had not been wearing a lifejacket. At 00:34, the Inshore Lifeboat requested, in view of the weather conditions, and the time the person had been missing, that the Offshore Lifeboat was also launched to assist in the search. The Inshore Lifeboat carried out an initial search of the moorings off Flushing but was unable to locate the yacht, or its dinghy. At 00:42, the ""June Rose"" reported receiving a call from the ""Tessa"" advising him that the missing person had returned to his yacht. At 00:47 the Inshore Lifeboat located the yacht ""Tessa"" and confirmed that the person in question was safe and well, so the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 00:56, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 01:08. The Offshore Lifeboat was stood down before it had left its berth.
