At 18:45 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following a report of a partially submerged two masted yacht in Falmouth Bay. In addition to the lifeboats, a Search and Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, the Falmouth Pilot Boat and the Research Vessel Ocean Researcher were also tasked to assist.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 18:52, shortly after the Inshore Lifeboat had launched from its slipway. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:54 and confirmed that the wreckage was in fact a submerged beach Pedalo with its floats pointing skyward. In view of this the All Weather Lifeboat and other units were stood down while the Inshore Lifeboat recovered the Pedalo and took it back to the boathouse.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 19:20. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 19:30.
