Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 21:15 to carryout a search after a Red Parachute Flare was spotted to seaward of Zone Point. The Portscatho Coastguard Mobile was also dispatched to carry out a visual search from the headland.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 21:25 and commenced a search of the area using the radar and night sight equipment. While the search was continuing the Coastguard Mobile located a group of youngsters on the headland who had been firing fire works and possibly flares. Once the Lifeboat had completed a through search of the area with negative results at 22:05 it was released to return to station.

The Offshore Lifeboat returned to station at 22:20, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 22:45.
