At 18:13 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a fire at Sunny Cove, near Swanpool. There was concern that people might be unable to leave the beach due to the extent of the fire. The coastguard mobile and local fire brigade were also tasked to attend.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 18:19 arriving on scene at Sunny Cove at 18:25. It was soon confirmed that people present were not in any direct danger, but the fire had taken hold. The fire brigade then requested assistance in transferring personnel and equipment to the beach to tackle the blaze, as access from the land was both difficult and dangerous. The fire was extinguished by 19:50 and the fire brigade personnel were returned to Swanpool Beach, the Inshore Lifeboat being released to return to station at 20:10.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:26 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 20:45.
