Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was alongside at Mylor Harbour at 17:10 attending an event run by the Mylor Sailing Club when Falmouth Coastguard requested the inshore lifeboat proceed to investigate a report of a sailing dinghy being swamped off Restronguet.

The Inshore Lifeboat left the pontoon at 17:12 and headed up towards Restronguet, but it was soon established that the dinghy was in fact actually off the Restronguet Sailing Club, which is near Penarrow Point. At 17:18 the three people from the Pico Dinghy had been transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and the dinghy, which was full of water, was towed back to Restronguet Sailing Club Beach where the dinghy and its three crew were placed safely ashore at 17:40

Once details of the casualties had been obtained the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to the event at Mylor Harbour, the inshore lifeboat being moored alongside again at 17:50.
