Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Glen Reed, Mark Pollard Location: Off Prince of Wales Pier, Falmouth Inner Harbour Shout Date: 03/07/2000 (All day) Weather:SE 2, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy At 03:28 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched following a report to Falmouth Coastguard of two people in difficulty off Prince of Wales Pier, Falmouth Inner Harbour. One casualty was believed to be onboard a moored boat, while the other was adrift in a dinghy. The Coastguard Mobile and Police units were also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 03:30 and located one of the casualties on a motor boat moored off the pier. He was taken off the boat and landed ashore into the care of the police. The Inshore Lifeboat, Coastguards, and Police then commenced a search of the Inner Harbour from Prince of Wales Pier to Greenbank Quay to try and locate the second casualty. At 03:41 the Inshore Lifeboat located the dinghy drifting close to the shore at Well Beach. The dinghy was made secure, before the search of the Harbour continued. At 04:02 the Police confirmed that the second casualty had been located at his home address. The Inshore Lifeboat returned to recover the dinghy, which was towed to Prince of Wales Quay where it was safely secured. Once the Police were satisfied that all persons had been accounted for the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back at station by 04:20, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 04:35.
