Falmouth Atlantic 75 class inshore lifeboat RNLB Eve Pank (B756)

At 18:14 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist three persons cut off by the tide at West Portholland as the Inshore Lifeboat was already dealing with another incident at Porthbeor Beach. The Mevagissey and Falmouth Coastguard Cliff Rescue Teams were also tasked to assist as the Portscatho Team was also involved in the incident at Porthbeor. Once complete at Porthbeor at 19:00 the Inshore Lifeboat was retasked to the incident at West Portholland.

The Inshore Lifeboat headed up the coast and arrived on scene off Portholland at 19:16 The All Weather Lifeboat had arrived on scene at 18:52 and was in the process of evacuating the third casualty from the rocks using its Y-Boat when the Inshore Lifeboat arrived.

Once all three casualties were safely onboard the All Weather Lifeboat and its Y-Boat had been recovered at 19:40 both lifeboats headed to St Mawes where at 20:05 the Inshore Lifeboat transferred the three casualties to the quay to be met by the Portscatho Coastguard Mobile and an Ambulance, both lifeboats were then released to return to station at 20:15.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 20:22 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 20:45.

The family had become cut off by the incoming tide on the Portloe side of West Portholland and the easiest way to recover them had been by boat.
