The Falmouth inshore lifeboat was launched at 11:53 after a local
pleasure boat reported to Falmouth Coastguard that a person on the
foreshore at Ruan creek was receiving medical attention .
When the inshore lifeboat arrived on scene at 12:05 they found the
Truro Harbour Masters Vessel, a lifeboat from a laid-up dredger
and the launch from the smugglers cottage already in attendance.
The casualty was one of a two man crew from a small 10ft rowing
dinghy which had capsized whilst on a fishing trip in the creek,
a third member of the party who was on the foreshore and witnessed
the incident swam out and assisted them ashore. All three casualties
were then transferred to the inshore lifeboat and taken to the King
Harry Ferry where an Ambulance was waiting to transfer them to Treliske Hospital. The inshore lifeboat then return to the scene
of the incident to recover some equipment before arriving back
at station at 13:16
The inshore lifeboat was then refuelled and made ready for service
by 13:40
