Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Tom Bird Location: Off the Pandora Inn, Restronguet Creek Shout Date: 12/08/2009 - 09:19 Weather:NW 2, Slight Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast At 09:15 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a 999 call reporting a person in the water off the Pandora Inn in Restronguet Creek. The Truro Harbour Masters launch also responded to the Coastguards broadcast arriving on scene shortly after the Inshore Lifeboat. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 09:19 and headed up the Carrick Roads at best possible speed, arriving on scene at 09:24. The casualty was quickly located on the shoreline, looking rather wet but otherwise no worse for his experience, having been assisted out of the water and dropped ashore by a passing rigid inflatable. Having checked that the casualty did not require any medical attention and having ensured that there was someone available to take him home for a warm shower and a change of clothing the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 09:35. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 09:50 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 10:05. The gentleman who has a false leg had slipped while attempting to get from his dinghy onto his boat. Luckily he had managed to hold onto the dinghy until he was rescued by the passing rigid inflatable. Although the only thing hurt was his pride, the incident could have had a much more tragic outcome.
