Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Marc Thomas (Helmsman), Diane Bush, Luke Wills Location: Little Falmouth, Flushing Shout Date: 18/08/2007 (All day) Weather:N 4, Moderate Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Showers Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was attending the local fire brigades annual Trident Swim at Gyllyngvase Beach when Falmouth Coastguard requested that the inshore lifeboat proceed to Little Falmouth near Flushing where they had received reports of a man in the water. A police unit was also in attendance. The Inshore Lifeboat immediately responded leaving Gyllyngvase Beach at 18:17 and arriving on scene off Falmouth Boat Construction at 18:22. The casualty was soon located onboard a moored motorboat. On further investigation it was found that the person in question had been involved in a domestic argument and had decided to stay on his boat. While rowing out to his vessel he lost an oar and as he had tried to recover it he had fallen out of the dinghy. He had eventually managed to get onboard his boat just before the arrival of the inshore lifeboat. The inshore lifeboat crew recovered the oar and dinghy and returned them to the vessel. The gentleman in question had obviously consumed a quantity of alcohol so before departing the scene the crew gave the casualty some basic safety advise and assured themselves that he would not be attempting to take the vessel any where until he was in a more suitable state. At 18:32 the inshore lifeboat was released to return to the swimming event at Gyllyngvase Beach.
