At 19:25 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched join the search for a fully dressed teenager who had been seen to walk into the sea at Parsons Beach below Mawnan Church. The Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat, Rescue Helicopter, Falmouth Coastguard Mobile, the cliff team and Police units were already carrying out a comprehensive land and sea search.

The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 19:42 and headed for the search area. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 19:56 and joined the search. As the Coastguard Teams searched the cliff paths and shoreline between the Helford and Pennance Point the Inshore and Offshore Lifeboats searched close inshore. Eventually at 20:57 following a report from a member of the public that the casualty had been seen walking along the cliff path near Maenporth the search was called off, with all units being released to return to station. .

The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 21:17, where it was ready for service by 21:50.
