Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Marc Thomas, Carl Beardmore Location: Between Maenporth and Newporth Beaches Shout Date: 08/07/2007 (All day) Weather:W 4, Moderate Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods At 17:03 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report of a person cut off by the tide between Maenporth and Newporth Beaches. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile and Cliff Team were also tasked to assist. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 17:08, arriving on scene at 17:14. The casualty was located on the rocks about 100m to the East of the wreck of the Ben Asdale. One of the lifeboat crew was placed ashore, and with their assistance the casualty was then transferred onto the Inshore Lifeboat. No medical assistance was required, and as the casualty had set off from Falmouth it was decided to take him back to Falmouth in the Inshore Lifeboat rather than trying to land him at Maenporth Beach. The casualty was safely landed on the lifeboat pontoon at 17:45. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 17:48 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 18:05. The casualty who was on holiday from London, and originates from Miami in the United States had been exploring the coastline and had not realised that it was impossible to complete his journey to Maenporth by climbing over the rocks.
