Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Luke Wills (Helmsman), Oliver Lewis, Joe Sabien Location: Islington Wharf, Penryn River Shout Date: 20/11/2007 (All day) Weather:NE 4, Slight Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Overcast "At 10:04 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched following a report from the police of a person and a dog in the water at Islington Wharf in the Penryn River. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 10:11 and headed up the Penryn River at best possible speed. On arrival on scene at 10:15 the inshore lifeboat crew located the bodies of the dog and then its owner in the water off Islington Wharf. Both were recovered onto the inshore lifeboat and at the request of the police they were taken back to the lifeboat station. The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 10:48 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 11:55. It appears that this was a tragic accident and that the woman who is known to have lived on houseboat nearby may well have been trying to save her dog when she fell or entered the water earlier in the day. The thoughts of the lifeboat crew go out to her family and friends at this sad time.
