Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), Tim Julian, Peter Wood, Chris Price, Alan Rowe, Phil Rogers, John Lower, Marc Thomas Location: Carrick Roads and River Fal Shout Date: 19/12/2001 (All day) Weather:E 4, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Clear Sky At 00:05 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched to assist in the search for the 28ft working boat ""Royal Oak"" which was overdue on a passage from Ponsharden to Cowlands Creek, River Fal. The Inshore Lifeboat and Coastguard Mobile had already been searching for over an hour and additional resources to search the Carrick Roads and entrance to the Harbour. The Offshore Lifeboat left her berth at 00:18 and as she cleared the harbour entrance she located the ""Royal Oak"" becalmed off the docks. The Inshore Lifeboat was then requested to take the casualty in tow to Cowlands Creek while the Offshore Lifeboat returned to station. The ""Royal Oak"" had reached the Vilt Buoy, but with the strong ebb tide and wind dropping off they had drifted back towards the harbour. Once the Inshore Lifeboat took the ""Royal Oak"" under tow at 00:31, the Offshore Lifeboat was released to return to station. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 00:36, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 00:45. This was the first call for the stations new Offshore Severn Class Lifeboat, the ""Richard Cox Scott""
