Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), Alan Rowe, Peter Wood, Snowy Angove, Alistair Heane, John Blakeston, Nick Lewis, Phil Rogers, John Lower Location: Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay Shout Date: 14/08/2005 (All day) Weather:N 4, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods At 19:53 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both Falmouth All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats be launched following a report that a Laser 5000 dinghy with two persons onboard was overdue, from a sailing trip in the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay. The wind had been blowing offshore all day and the amount of daylight remaining for a search was limited. The Falmouth Coastguard Mobile was also tasked to assist and a Pan Broadcast was made. The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 19:58 with the All Weather Lifeboat leaving its berth at 19:59. The Inshore Lifeboat headed around the docks to start its search its search in Falmouth Bay. As the inshore lifeboat was passing the Eastern Wharf a sailing dinghy was spotted in the Carrick Roads, and the lifeboat altered course to investigate. At 20:00 it was confirmed that this was the missing dinghy, which had, suffered damage due to a number of capsizes, causing its return to be delayed. The inshore lifeboat agreed to escort the dinghy back to Restronguet Sailing Club, while the All Weather Lifeboat was released to return to station at 20:01. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 20:03, where it was ready for service by 20:10.
