Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat was launched at 17:13 to assist in the search for an overdue diver from the Dive Boat ""Loyal Watcher, 32 miles South East of Falmouth. Also assisting in the search was The Lizard Lifeboat, a Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, which was then relieved by a Rescue Helicopter from RAF Chivenor.

The lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:40 and commenced a search of an area calculated by Falmouth Coastguards search computer. Falmouth Lifeboat was On Scene Commander and an area of 12 square miles was extensively searched by the various search and rescue units. At 21:35 the search was terminated due to failing light.

The Offshore Lifeboat was back at its berth at the station at 22:47, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 23:27.
