Location: St Anthony Lighthouse
Shout Date: 11/02/2006 (All day)
Weather:S 5, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Overcast

At 11:44 Falmouth Coastguard requested that both the Falmouth Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats be launched following a call from the 19ft Orkney Day Boat Celtic Dream, which had three persons onboard reporting that they were aground on the rocks at St Anthony Lighthouse. A Rescue Helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, which was on exercise in the area, was also tasked to assist.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 11:52, the Inshore Lifeboat having already launched at 11:49. When the Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 11:54 the helicopter was hovering above the casualties. The boat was located on the rocks to the east of the lighthouse, with the three crew who were all wearing lifejackets, on the rocks trying to prevent the vessel being damaged. The inshore lifeboat placed a crewman with a radio ashore to assess the situation and to ensure none of the casualties need medical attention.

Once the All Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at 12:05, it was decided that the Inshore Lifeboat should evacuate all three casualties off the rocks and place them on the All Weather Lifeboat. Once the Inshore Lifeboat had completed this task a towline was established to the boat and the Inshore Lifeboat carefully towed her off the rocks before being placing the boat alongside the All Weather Lifeboat. The Inshore Lifeboat then recovered its crewman from the rocks before taking the boat back in tow for Falmouth, escorted by the All Weather Lifeboat.

On entering the harbour the three casualties were transferred back to the Inshore Lifeboat and were landed safely ashore at the Grove Place Dinghy Park with their boat. The cause of the incident had been engine failure, the crew being unable to start their auxiliary outboard before they drifted ashore.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 12:45, where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 13:00.
