Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Luke Wills, Oliver Lewis
Location: 1.75 miles SSE of Pendennis Point
Shout Date: 15/06/2008 (All day)
Weather:N 4, Slight Sea & Swell, Good Visibility, Clear Sky

At 20:12 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat be launched to assist a 15ft open boat with four persons onboard, which had broken down 1.75 miles SSE of Pendennis Point.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from her slipway at 20:18 arriving on scene at 20:25. The four occupants were transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat before a lifeboat crewman was placed onboard to rig the tow. At 20:35 the boat was undertow back towards Falmouth. The boat and its crew were safely landed at Greenbank Quay at 21:20, the lifeboat then being released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 21:30 where it was refuelled, rehoused and was ready for service by 21:51.

The boat and its occupants had been out fishing off the Old Walls when its engine had failed, possibly due to water in its fuel. Having attempted to row back against the wind and tide, the occupants eventually called for assistance when one of their oars broke and the wind started to get up. The occupants of the boat were well equipped and had all been wearing lifejackets.
