Boat: All Weather Lifeboat
Crew: Alan Barnes (Coxswain), Peter Wood, Alan Rowe, Mark Pollard, Nick Lewis, Mark Waters, Andy Jenkins, Luke Wills
Location: Off Greeb Point, Gerrans Bay
Shout Date: 22/04/2005 (All day)
Weather:SE 3, Moderate Sea, Thick Fog, Overcast

At 18:59 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to locate and assist the Motor Yacht Flass Vale, which had become lost in thick fog after suffered complete failure of its navigational equipment. The yacht was on passage to Falmouth and had three persons onboard, had spotted rocks ahead of her and had dropped anchor and requested assistance. Falmouth and Brixham Coastguard using their VHF direction finding equipment believed that the yacht was to the east of Falmouth.

The All Weather Lifeboat left her berth at 19:12 and made best possible speed in the thick fog. Once clear of Zone Point the lifeboat managed to use its own VHF direction finding equipment to get a bearing on the yacht which when combined with the radar image allowed them to eventually locate the yacht 3 cables off Greeb Point in Gerrans Bay at 19:40. The yacht was taken in tow for Falmouth and was safely moored alongside at Port Pendennis Marina at 20:51.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 21:00, where it was ready for service by 21:15.
