Boat: Inshore Lifeboat Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Claire Angove, Jonathan Jeeves Location: Off Governor Buoy, Falmouth Harbour Shout Date: 13/09/2007 (All day) Weather:N 2, Slight Sea and Swell, Good Visibility, Clear Sky Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was out on a routine exercise when at 19:48 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the inshore lifeboat be tasked to assist the 35ft Motor Cruiser Taekadie with two persons onboard, which had suffered engine failure off Governor Buoy. The Harbour Launch Killigrew was standing by the vessel. The Inshore Lifeboat was off Zone Point when it had been tasked and was on scene off Governor Buoy by 19:54. A lifeboat crewman was placed onboard the motor cruiser and a towline was passed. By 19:57 the Taekadie was undertow back towards its berth at Challenger Marine in the Penryn River. Once off Falmouth Marina the inshore lifeboat was placed alongside the casualty for the final tow up to Challenger Marine, allowing the Taekadie to be manoeuvred directly into her berth. The motor cruiser was safely placed on its berth at 20:45. The Inshore Lifeboat left the scene at 20:53 arriving back on its slipway by 21:15 where it was refuelled, and was ready for service by 21:30. The Taekadie had been on engine trails following rectifying minor problems experienced a few days before. On this occasion the boat had lost all propulsion although the engine was still functioning.
