Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat - RNLB Richard Cox Scott (17-29)

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat was on exercise in Falmouth Bay when at 11:41 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the All Weather Lifeboat proceed to the assistance of the 23ft Motor Boat Lely B, which had reported suffering engine failure off Trefusis Point.

The All Weather Lifeboat was underway at 11:42 and arrived alongside the motor boat at 11:55. Having assessed the situation the lifeboat took the vessel in tow for the Falmouth Marina in the Penryn River where she was safely moored up at 12:20, the Lifeboat then being released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 12:35. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 13:00.

At the time of the initial call the coastguard had been dealing with two incidents in the Falmouth area, so the All Weather Lifeboat was requested to assist the Motor Boat while the Inshore Lifeboat, which was also on exercise, was tasked to carry out a search for a missing person in Mylor Creek. The Lely B had apparently suffered engine failure due to a fuel problem.
