Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat - RNLB Eve Pank

Falmouth’s Inshore and All Weather Lifeboats were afloat for the Red Arrows Display, which was part of Falmouth Regatta Week celebrations when at 18:00 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the All Weather Lifeboat proceed to assist the 30ft Motor Cruiser Key Largo, which had fouled its propellers and was in danger of drifting ashore off Porthbeor Beach.

The All Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:08 and took the vessel in tow back towards Falmouth. At 18:55 the decision was made to task the Inshore Lifeboat to take over the tow off Falmouth Docks so that the boat could be taken to its berth at Falmouth Marina the tow being transferred at 18:59. The Inshore Lifeboat towed the Motor Boat up the Penryn River and safely moored it in the marina at 19:30. The Inshore Lifeboat then headed back down river to join the All Weather Lifeboat at the RNLI Fun Night on Custom House Quay.

The 30ft twin engined Motor Boat Key Largo with two adults and two children onboard had been on passage when it had fouled both its propellers on a rope. Despite dropping its anchor it was close to the rocks at the western end of Porthbeor Beach and there was concern it might drag its anchor.
