Location: Between Malpas and King Harry Reach, River Fal
Shout Date: 14/05/2000 (All day)

At 17:55 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist the 24ft Motor Boat ""Joint Venture"" which had suffered mechanical failure and was taking on water. The Coastguard had received a number of broken 999 mobile calls from the two people onboard the boat and they were eventually able to ascertain that the boat was somewhere between Malpas and King Harry Reach.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 18:12 and located the boat down stream of Malpas tied up to the visitor's pontoon. As the boat was taking water she was towed to the beach at Sunny Corner, above Malpas, where she was safely beached at 19:00, and the two occupants were put ashore. The Inshore Lifeboat was then released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat returned to station at 19:26, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 19:45.
