Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), David Proud, Snowy Angove, Alan Rowe, Alistair Heane, John Lower, Toni Partridge, John Jeeves Location: Falmouth Bay Shout Date: 10/05/2008 (All day) Weather:SE 3, Slight Sea & Swell, Very Poor Visibility with Thick Fog At 21:58 as Falmouth Lifeboat was escorting another casualty into Falmouth, Falmouth Coastguard advised them that a 22ft Motor Boat with three people onboard was lost n the Fog in Falmouth Bay. Once further details had been obtained the lifeboat was advised that they would be retasked to assist this vessel. Having escorted the first vessel into the Inner Harbour the casualty was left with the Inshore Lifeboat and at 22:12 the All Weather Lifeboat started to head back out of the harbour to locate the second casualty. All communications with the motor boats crew was being carried out mobile phone. Originally the vessel was reported to be 3 miles South of Falmouth, but as the Lifeboat headed out of the harbour the skipper of the motor boat reported being alongside Castle Buoy. The lifeboat proceeded to this position and located the casualty, which it then escorted back into the harbour and up to its moorings off Ponsharden in the Penryn River where it was safely moored at 22:54. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 23:08. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 23:30. The 22ft Motor Boat Jenny Idn had become lost in Falmouth Bay when the thick fog rolled in. They had tried to head back into Falmouth but had become concerned and requested assistance. Luckily they had sighted one of the navigation marks and had been able to confirm their position otherwise it would have meant a long and difficult search to locate them.
