At 12:33 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 42ft Motor Boat Ida May, which was entangled on a pot marker 1 mile South of Pendennis Point.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 12:44 and headed out into Falmouth Bay arriving alongside the casualty at 12:51. A lifeboatman was transferred to the vessel to assist its two occupants with cutting the pot marker free before the motor boat was taken in tow back to Mylor.

When the casualty arrived off Mylor Harbour at 13:43, a local workboat took over the tow allowing the lifeboat to be released to return to station.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 13:59. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 14:15.
