Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), John Blakeston, David Proud, Snowy Angove, Marc Thomas, Tom Napper, Joe Sabien Location: Off Nare Head, Gerrans Bay Shout Date: 05/06/2009 - 13:13 Weather:E 3, Slight Sea & Moderate Swell, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy ![]() At 13:03 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 36ft Motor Boat Free Spirits, which had reported to be out of fuel and unsure of its position. Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 13:13 and headed around St Anthony Lighthouse and up to the east. The motor boat was located off Nare Head in Gerrans Bay at 13:38 and a towline was passed to the vessel. The boat was towed to the Falmouth Yacht Haven where it was safely berthed at 14:55, the Lifeboat then being released to return to station. The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 15:05. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 15:20. The motor boat with two persons onboard had been on passage from Plymouth to Falmouth when it had run out of fuel. Despite the good weather conditions the skipper had initially been unsure of his position.
