Boat: All Weather Lifeboat
Crew: Mark Pollard (Coxswain), David Proud, Snowey Angove, Alan Rowe, Alistair Heane, John Lower, Toni Partridge, John Jeeves
Location: 2.5 miles South of Pendennis Point
Shout Date: 10/05/2008 (All day)
Weather:SE 3, Slight Sea & Swell, Very Poor Visibility with Thick Fog

At 20:34 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to assist the 25ft Motor Boat Brave Heart with three persons onboard, which had requested assistance having suffered mechanical and electrical problems in thick fog in Falmouth Bay.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 20:43 and headed out of the harbour at slow speed due to the very thick fog. Using the lifeboats VHF Radio Direction finder and Radar the casualty was located 2.5 miles South of Pendennis Point at 21:17. As the vessel still had one engine working the lifeboat decided to escort the vessel back towards Falmouth.

At 21:19 the Inshore Lifeboat was also requested to launch to take over the escort duty once the two vessels had entered the harbour, as the All Weather Lifeboat was potentially required to assist with another incident at Dodman Point. The lifeboat and casualty arrived off Governor Buoy at 21:48 and continued into the harbour in company with the Inshore Lifeboat.

At 22:12 as the Brave Heart was being safely moored up at Port Pendennis Marina the Lifeboat was tasked to assist another vessel lost in the fog in Falmouth Bay.

The 25ft Motor Boat Brave Heart had been in Falmouth Bay when one of its engines had failed and it had then lost all power to its navigation equipment. In view of the very thick fog and the loss of one engine the skipper had wisely asked for assistance.
