At 01:34 Falmouth Coastguard requested that the Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched following a request from the Ambulance authority for assistance in evacuating a casualty with severe kidney pains from a yacht off Custom House Quay. In view of the location it was also decided to launch the Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat to locate the yacht and provide immediate medical care.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched from its slipway at 01:40 followed shortly afterwards by the All Weather Lifeboat which left its berth at 01:44. It was soon established that the yacht was in fact moored two miles away in the Penryn River so the Inshore Lifeboat was dispatched to try and locate the vessel, while the All Weather Lifeboat also headed up river.

At 01:54 the Inshore Lifeboat located the yacht in Bissom Creek. The casualty who was in severe pain was transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and brought back down river where he was placed onboard the All Weather Lifeboat at 02:01 off Coastline Wharf. The casualty was then taken back to the lifeboat station where he was transferred into the care of the ambulance paramedics at 02:14.

The All Weather Lifeboat was refuelled, and was ready for service by 02:26.
