Boat: All Weather Lifeboat Crew: Roger McClarity (Coxswain), Tim Julian, Peter Wood, Dave Nicoll, Alan Rowe, Phil Rogers, Carl Beardmore, & Doctor Slater Location: Entrance to Falmouth Harbour Shout Date: 15/12/2001 (All day) Weather:E 5, Moderate Sea, Good Visibility, Sunny Periods At 12:30 on Friday 14th December the Honorary Secretary of Falmouth Lifeboat received a call from a local shipping agent, requesting medical assistance in the evacuation of a research engineer from the MOD Research Vessel ""Triton"". The ""Triton"" had been carrying out heavy weather trials, in the Atlantic, and the research engineer was suffering from severe seasickness. The ""Triton"" was due to arrive off Falmouth at 08:00 the next morning. The Offshore Lifeboat left her pontoon berth at 07:30 and rendezvoused with the ""Triton"" at 07:40, about 1 mile South of Pendennis Point. Once the Pilot Boat had placed a Harbour Pilot onboard, the ""Triton"" manoeuvred to a position where the Lifeboat Doctor could be transferred from the lifeboat onto the vessel. The Doctor checked the casualties' condition and suitability for transfer to the lifeboat. Once the ""Triton"" had been anchored in the Carrick Roads the casualty was transferred to the lifeboat. The Lifeboat left the ship at 08:12, to return to its pontoon to land the casualty. Although the casualty was very weak, she did not require hospitalisation, but was advised by the doctor to rest for 24 hours before commencing her journey back to Scotland. The Offshore Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 08:30, where it was refuelled and ready for service by 08:40.
