Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was afloat in the Inner Harbour assisting the Lizard Lifeboat in berthing a casualty when at 10:18, Falmouth Coastguard called requesting that the Inshore lifeboat proceed to assist with a medical emergency onboard the yacht Penlena that was reported to be moored off Custom House Quay.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived off Custom House Quay at 10:21 and eventually at 10:29 located the yacht moored on the southern side of the quay. The lifeboat crew went onboard the yacht and found that the owner had fallen during the night while tending the yachts ropes. He had fallen ten feet onto the beach below but had managed to drag himself back onboard and into his bunk, but was now unable to move with out extreme pain. It was decided to await the arrival of an Ambulance Paramedic before any attempt to move the casualty would take place. Eventually with assistance the casualty was able to move up into the cockpit, where he was transferred to the Inshore Lifeboat and then landed on the nearby steps at 11:05. The casualty was then taken by ambulance to Treliske Hospital for treatment where he made a full recovery. The Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station at 11:10, having collected its medical equipment from the yacht.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 11:15 where it was refuelled and ready for service by 11:30.
