At 21:00 Falmouth Coastguard advised the Lifeboat Operations Manager of Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat that the Merchant Vessel Turicia was heading for Falmouth Bay with a crewmember who needed medical evacuation. The vessels estimated time of arrival was 02:00 on Christmas Day.

The All Weather Lifeboat left her berth at 01:30 with the lifeboat doctor onboard and headed out into Falmouth Bay where she rendezvoused with the vessel 1 mile south of Pendennis Point at 02:00. The doctor and two crewmen were put onboard the vessel and after being checked over, the casualty was transferred to the all weather lifeboat for the short journey back to Falmouth. The casualty was safely landed ashore to a waiting ambulance at 02:30.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 02:30, where it was ready for service by 02:45.
