At 07:10 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat be launched to evacuate a crewman who was suffering from abdominal pains from the Dutch Trawler Dirk Diederik.

Falmouth All Weather Lifeboat left its pontoon berth at 07:29 and rendezvoused with the trawler 3 miles South of Pendennis Point at 07:50. The casualty who was able to climb down the ships ladder was taken off the vessel at 08:10 and landed ashore at the lifeboat station at 08:25, where a car was waiting to take him to Treliske Hospital.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 08:25. The lifeboat was then refuelled, and was ready for service by 08:40.

The Dutch Trawler Dirk Diederik, which is 110m in length and has a Gross Tonnage of 4,929 tonnes, had been on her way to her fishing grounds when the crewman had developed severe abdominal pains and had diverted to Falmouth to land him.
