At 09:42 Falmouth Coastguard received a call from the Dutch Fishing Vessel Afrika reporting that they had an injured crewman onboard and had been advised by a doctor that the casualty should be landed ashore for hospital treatment. At 09:46 Falmouth Coastguard requested that Falmouth Offshore Lifeboat be launched with a Doctor to meet the Afrika at the pilot station at 11:00.

The All Weather Lifeboat left its berth at 10:45 with two doctors onboard and headed out to the 2D Buoy to rendezvous with the Fishing Vessel. The casualty was transferred to the lifeboat at 11:05 and the lifeboat then headed back to station where the casualty was landed into the care of a waiting ambulance at 11:30.

The All Weather Lifeboat was back alongside its pontoon berth by 11:30, where it was ready for service by 11:45.
